Kix Giveaway!!!

I'm bouncing off the walls about this next giveaway, y'all. Seriously. When I read about the product that was going to be arriving on my doorstep and then when it actually did, I was like a kid on Christmas tearing that box apart.

Of course, I had help from both boys as they excitedly peered into the box with me. Here's a glimpse of what they saw...

But before we get into how excited they were about the treasure let's talk for a minute about breakfast.

I seriously have to make a meal plan that includes not only dinner but also breakfast and lunch or else I stand in front of the refrigerator on school mornings or Sunday and just cannot come up with any good ideas. I put things on there like frozen waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs and bagels.

I like to mix things up.

So cereal has become a huge favorite with our boys. It's really no surprise because The Husband and I are both cereal fans. Only recently has Matthew started eating cereal with just a little bit of milk in the bottom of the bowl. The best part of Matthew eating it with milk is that, when he's done with the cereal, if I don't catch him in time, he tries to drink his milk out of the bowl. This means that he dumps whatever is left down the front of him. Usually we're on our way out the door so I'm late wherever we're going because I don't want him to smell like curdled milk all day. It's exciting.

But I really like the cereal option because it's quick and it's a healthy choice.

Confession time. I don't think my kids have ever had Kix. Even though they are Kid-Tested Mother-Approved® and I certainly remember testing--and approving--them as a kid and while I approve of them now, I don't typically buy name brand cereals. But my sons' lack of knowledge about Kix is about to change. Kix is made with whole grain corn. It's an excellent source of iron, calcium, fiber, and Vitamins C and D. Additionally, Original Kix has no preservatives, artificial colors, or flavors. Kix also recently launched a website at http://www.kixcereal.com/.

Garrett's been asking about Kix all day now. "Mommy, can I have some of the cereal that came in the mail for me soon?" I may have to bust it out for dinner if he has any say in the matter.

So. Kix provided me with an awesome giveaway through MyBlogSpark and I'm so happy to be able to provide one lucky winner with the package that arrived on my porch this morning. Let's talk about what you have a chance to win.

1. A box of Original Kix.
2. A box of Honey Kix.
3. A fun sippy-style cup. (Matthew immediately grabbed this out of the box and pranced around the house with it.)
4. A snack carrier with lid. (Matthew also toted this around.)
5. A set of awesome number flashcards. (Garrett was stoked about these.)
6. A super cool giant floor puzzle. (Both boys were taking pieces of this out of the box before I even had a chance to examine it.)

All I can say is that, if you have a preschooler in your life, you want to win this giveaway. I promise! If you have a baby in your life that will become a preschooler one day or if you know anyone with a preschooler, you want to win. Heck, if you eat cereal it's worth it just to win two boxes and save yourself almost eight bucks.

So here's how:
1. Leave a comment here. Let me know, in your comment, what your most creative and quick breakfast idea is. If you don't have a creative breakfast idea, tell me what your favorite cereal was when you were a kid. Entries that fail to answer one of the two questions will be disqualified.
2. Share the giveaway on your blog. Make sure to link back to my blog and leave your blog address.
3. Become a follower of this blog. (Already a follower? You get an entry for that too!) Let me know in a SEPARATE comment.
4. Become a follower of my main blog. (Already a follower? You get an entry for that too!) Let me know in a SEPARATE comment.

This contest will end on Thursday, November 11 at 4:00 pm MST. A winner will be selected at random. The winner will then have 24 hours to contact me with your mailing address or another winner will be selected. Please be sure to check back!

(The prize packs and information were all given to me from Kix through MyBlogSpark.)

Betty Crocker Giveaway

Since my oldest, The Rock Star, hates potatoes in just about any form, imagine my delight when I was faced with the opportunity to giveaway Betty Crocker Potato Buds mashed potatoes (along with a plethora of other things). This would inevitably mean further torturing of my child. You see, he prays like this before the meal, "Dear Jesus, thank you for this food. Please bless it. I don't like mashed potatoes. Or grilled potatoes. Amen." He's weird. The rest of us, however. The "normal" ones in this family, all love potatoes. Mashed. Baked. Fried. You name it. If it comes from a potato, we like it.

Before we get to the giveaway, I wanted to let you know that you can visit http://www.bettycrocker.com/ and http://www.liveglutenfreely.com/ for tons of recipes. Many of them use the buds to make things other than mashed potatoes. So even The Rock Star will be happy. You can also visit http://www.myblogspark.com/uc/main/55d0/ to get .55 cents off one package of Betty Crocker Potato Buds!

Now for the giveaway...which is awesome. Not only will the winner receive a box of the Betty Crocker Potato Buds mashed potatoes, s/he will also get a big red Betty Crocker serving spoon, a trivet and the most amazing wooden serving bowl.

Seriously. The bowl is huge. And solid. And I'm pretty much going to spoon with it at night instead of my husband. It's. That. Awesome.

And all of these things can be yours. Here's how (you can do as many or as few of these as you want):

1. Leave a comment here. Visit the www.bettycrocker.com website and tell me, in your comment, which potato bud recipe you'd like to try.

This contest will end on Wednesday, October 20 at 3:00 pm MST. A winner will be selected at random. The winner will then have 24 hours to contact me with your mailing address or another winner will be selected.

Motor Oil Matters...and so do my readers!

Despite my father's best efforts, I know nothing about cars. I had some pretty grand plans of marrying someone who knew something about car maintenance but then I found this guy who was a caring, funny, Christian family man and I decided that taking the car in for an oil change instead of doing it ourselves wouldn't really be the end of the world. So imagine my delight when I just took the Motor Oil Matters quiz and scored an 85.71%. My dad is gonna be so proud! Look daddy, your little girl is all grown up and passing car quizzes! Who knew? So what if the answers were fairly obvious. Am I right?

Anyway. I was pretty excited when MyBlogSpark offered me a 35 dollar gift card to Jiffy Lube for my next oil change and a gift card to bestow upon one of my readers. In a very small way it makes me want to be all like, "Blam! All that excess reading and writing and daydreaming instead of learning about the difference between a radiator and a carburetor (for the record I actually do know what a radiator is and, even, where it is located) is finally paying off." Except that, really, 70 dollars doesn't even begin to touch the amount of money I've spent having things on my car fixed. So, really, I probably should have listened a little better to Car Maintenance 101 as taught by my dad. But I digress...

The important thing is...YOU! A 35 dollar gift card to Jiffy Lube!

So here's what I want you to do. Go to the Motor Oil Matters website and have a look around. Then take the quiz. Come back here and leave a comment telling me your score and which question/answer you found the most interesting.

For an additional chance to win: link to this post on your blog. Come back here and leave another comment with a link to your blog.

This giveaway will end on Friday May 14, 2010 at 5:00 pm MST. The winner will be chosen by random.org and will be announced on this blog. If you win, please comment on the results post within 48 hours. If I do not receive a response another winner will be selected. This giveaway is open to US residents only.

Stirring Up Wishes

It's finally here! This is my first ever Givin' In A Fishbowl giveaway! I am going to give each of you the opportunity to share in the power of a wish®. By participating in the Betty Crocker Stirring Up Wishes program with the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, you can help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to bring hope, strength, and joy to their lives.

Oh Betty Crocker, you set the bar so high. I've often been heard saying things like, "Who do I look like, Betty Crocker?" as I throw down a heap of macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs in front of my kids. Okay, really, I've never said that. But I might start. It might be my new trademark. I also don't feed my kids macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs. At least not very often. I certainly didn't do it last night. But I wanted to get your attention. And I really do love myself some Betty Crocker. Now I have a reason to love the products even more--and so do you.

There are two ways you can help Betty Crocker grant wishes:

Support the Make-A-Wish Foundation® online while saving on your favorite Betty Crocker® products through the Give $5, Get $5 promotion. Just visit StirringUpWishes.com from now through March 31st to donate $5 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make children’s wishes come true and get $5 worth of downloadable Betty Crocker coupons.

Simply purchase your favorite Betty Crocker® products this spring. For every specially marked package purchased, Betty Crocker will donate 10¢ to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 and a maximum donation of $500,000.

I was sent a prize pack that included a Betty Crocker® cookie mix (happy sons!), a Betty Crocker® brownie mix (happy husband) and a Betty Crocker® spoon. In addition, a 25 dollar donation is being made to the Make-a-Wish foundation on my behalf.

But this wouldn't be my first ever giveaway if I wasn't giving something away so...

I have one more prize pack to give to one of my readers!

One lucky reader will receive:

  • Betty Crocker® Brownie Mix
  • Betty Crocker® Cookie Mix
  • Betty Crocker® Spoon
  • $25 donation to Make-a-Wish on his/her behalf

There are several ways to enter:

Infantino Spiral Spin Top

A few days ago this Infantino Spiral Spin Top arrived in the mail. I was excited! My very first product review. At first I wasn't sure about it, it's for ages 6+ months and I thought it might be a little young for him. But Matthew was instantly enamored. He adores the bright colors and hands on aspect of this toy. At 12 months, I think he'll get several months of fun out of it. Garrett, on the other hand, was extremely disappointed that the box only had a baby toy in it and nothing for him. Of course, once I got it out of the package, even he was playing with it. Apparently it passes even a three-year-old's test.

The idea, of course, is a simple one. Push the knob on the top of the toy and the balls will spiral up the ramp and then down again. What I like about it is that it teaches Matthew cognitive skills. Once he masters pushing the knob down, he'll master the toy. It only took a second for him to understand how it worked but he doesn't quite push it hard enough yet.

Ebeanstalk has lots of products for children that are selected by child experts. If you think your baby (or 3 year old) might enjoy this toy as much as my baby (and 3 year old) did, head over and pick one up.

*Ebeanstalk is a toy website dedicated to selecting the best toys by age. The in-home feedback of bloggers and moms like me around the country help to make sure ebeanstalk continues to provide the best toys for your child. Check it out for yourself!
